The CoreMust Fall

The cities were printed back in a single night. Since then the Core runs them, and people vanish from them. A demolition man broke through a wall and found them. Since then there is war. And since then the weather has been strange.

Story

Behind every wall, someone remembers

2061. Nobody quite remembers who printed the cities back. Only that one morning they were there. People call them Printcity. Nobody has been to the top of one yet. They say that is for the best.

The Great Collapse

By the end of the wars the continent's cities were dust. Then came Trösztcorp with its printers: palm-sized cubes that set into stone, brick, concrete and glass. In a single night it raised a whole Printcity. Then the next one. People wept with gratitude.

The Core

The new cities are run by Trösztcorp's system, the Core. It hands out flats, jobs and power; every wall holds its camera and its microphone. Whoever objects gets "relocated" one night. By morning the flat is empty and the name is gone from the stairwell board.

The secret

Dzsoni "Dynamite" Vadas, demolition master of the Repesz Crew, blew the wrong wall in the Old Town. Behind it stood a warm, humming node, and in it, names: the names of the disappeared, by the hundred. The Core is not a machine. The Core is built from them, and it thinks with their brains.

The Core Must Fall

The Crew says every node blown sets someone free. Gárd Security says whoever is inside dies in the blast. Colonel Kevin Kállai swore not one node will fall. Dzsoni swore every one of them will. One of them is badly wrong.

The brains

The Crew's hackers found out the Core buried its most important brains underground, under gardens and parks. If a Digger digs one out and a Hacker jacks in, a piece of the Core goes blind. Or wakes up. Nobody knows yet.

The Core strikes back

Since the nodes started blowing, the Printcities behave strangely. Rocks fall from the sky. The ground shakes, the river floods, a twister sweeps the farms, and sometimes, for a few seconds, gravity just leaves. Trösztcorp says it is climate change. The Crew says the Core is sneezing. Nobody comments on the walking robots yet.

Factions

Who is right?

Two teams, one city, and by the end of the match maybe only rubble. Both believe they are saving lives.

Attackers · T in game

Repesz Crew

Demolition crews, miners and the families of those the Core relocated. To them a wall is not an obstacle but an opportunity: they blow doors where there are none, dig tunnels under the square, and crack every node that hums.

  • Plant charges on the Core's nodes
  • Break in where nobody expects them
Defenders · CT in game

Gárd Security

Trösztcorp's armed security, Colonel Kállai's men. They know every stair, ledge and roof in the city. Many are looking for disappeared people themselves, and they are sure every blast kills people inside. So they hold the node even as the building falls around them.

  • Defuse the charge before it goes off
  • Turn the rubble into new cover
Classes

Seven roles, their own weapons

Pick a class at the start of the match and switch any time (N): it applies from your next spawn. Every class has its own weapons, strengths and a silly noise maker (rattle, rubber duck, air horn, dial-up modem...) it sounds at the start of a round. Pistols, grenades and gear are open to every fighting class.

Asszolt

The front line. Leads the rush and holds the line.

…and a worm

Nobody knows where it came from. Nobody knows what it wants. Only that if it gets across, it is over.
Loot

Loot the city

Crates hide on every map, always somewhere else: there are ten times as many hiding spots as crates. The more something is worth, the rarer it turns up.

Hidden crates

Cellars, attics, the back of warehouses. A crate's glow tells how rare the stuff is: common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary.

CommonUncommonRareEpicLegendary

Remote TNT

Stick it on the wall, walk away, press the button. If someone shoots it first, it goes off anyway.

A bow with real ballistics

The further you draw, the further and flatter it flies. A headshot? Let us say it hurts.

Frying pan, rubber chicken, baguette

Plus an umbrella (while you hold it, falling does not hurt), a guitar and an axe. Each exactly as serious as it sounds.

The Base

Your mini headquarters. Drag gear from your storage onto your character: cap, vest, backpack, slippers. Everyone sees it in the match too.

Loot you keep

Whatever you find in crates goes into your storage at the end of the match, and a win sometimes drops something extra. Coming soon: crafting.

Everything falls

The map is your weapon. Sometimes it shoots back.

Whatever is on screen, you can shoot apart, and whatever loses its support comes down. Then there are the days when the city falls apart all by itself. Right when you were planting the bomb.

Blast a way

No door stays shut

The rocket punches a hole in the wall, the grenade tears out the floor. Shoot out the pillar and watch the floor above land on their heads.

The sky falls

Meteors

Stone, ice, iron. From above, from the side, in swarms, and now and then one so big you watch it coming for minutes. The skyscrapers are not amused.

Bad days

The city is against you

An earthquake right when you kneel at the bomb. A flood right when you would defuse it. A sandstorm where you cannot see your own feet. The Core says it is all a coincidence.

Air raid

They come from above

A siren, red smoke, then the bombers. If you are quick, the flak gun sends them back. In pieces.

Press E

Boats, guns, lifts

In Venice you take a boat, on the park's roofs you man a heavy gun, in the skyscraper you ride the lift to the 12th floor. How you get down is your problem.

Dig in

A trench in the square

The Digger digs trenches and tunnels. Careful with sand: it flows back into the hole.

Climb it

The whole city is yours

Ledges, ladders, mantling, sliding, hanging, swimming. If the ledge you hang on comes down, so do you.

Not game over yet

Crawling at the end

Below ten percent you can no longer shoot, only crawl, and you slowly bleed out. You might still get somewhere. Or at least look hilarious.

Teamplay

Nobody gets left behind

A good team beats a good aim. (A good aim still helps.)

Revive

A mate shot under ten percent crawls on the ground and fades. Stand by them, hold E, and four seconds later they are back up.

Pings and compass

V or the middle button: "look, there!" The team sees it on screen and on the compass, along with your mates and the objectives.

Spectating and death cam

When you are out, we show you who did it for a moment. Then you watch the round over your mates' shoulders; click to switch.

Chat

Y for everyone, U for the team. No links, swearing turns into stars, and flooders get muted.

Missions

Ways to fight

Choose the mode in the menu. Join a server, or roam the maps on your own.

Bomb defusal

The node

The Repesz Crew plants a charge on one of the Core's nodes, the Gárd defuses it. Rounds, money, buying; first to 13 rounds wins.

Brénhekk

Dig it out, hack it

One of the Core's brains is underground. The Crew's Digger digs it out, their Hacker jacks in. The Gárd throws everything at stopping it.

Cube Heist

Steal the cube

Each base holds a data cube. Steal theirs and carry it home while yours is safe. Its own classes: the fast Courier and the bear-trapping Trapper.

Demolition

Bring down the HQ

Each team has a building. Everyone gets a rocket launcher: bring theirs down before they bring down yours.

Domination

Three relays

Take and hold the Core's relays A, B and C. While they are yours, the points tick.

Team deathmatch

Street fight

Instant respawn with your class weapon, non-stop firefights. First team to the limit wins.

Free for all

No allies

Everyone is an enemy. First to 25 kills wins.

Gun game

Every kill a new gun

Start with a pistol, step up with every kill. The crowbar waits at the end. Killed by the crowbar, you step back.

Places

Forty Printcities

Every building can be destroyed, from stone houses to skyscrapers. Some maps also do not like you. Which ones? You will find out.

ItalyThe first Printcity. The bell tower on the market square is still made of the old stone. Or was.
HarborContainers and cranes. Every Trösztcorp shipment leaves from here.
Desert townAdobe houses and dunes. The sand swallows whatever the blast leaves.
IndustrialWhere the cubes are printed: halls, silos, and a chimney that can come down any time.
Mountain villageWood and stone houses along the river, far from the Core's cameras.
Old TownCrooked alleys, palaces, a market. Where Dzsoni found the first node.
Sunshine CoastVillas over the beach. The tourists left, the trenches stayed.
QuarryDiggers, conveyors, sand hills. Printcity's raw material comes from here.
CampusGlass and concrete: the campus of Trösztcorp's engineers.
SuburbFamily homes, gardens, trampolines. Nobody thought the war would come here too.
AgyfarmSoft soil, gardens, parks. The Core buried its brains here. Brénhekk.
KukaclandDo not ask.
LiftaknaA mine town. The Repesz Crew comes up from the pit in a big cage lift, straight into the war.
TrakkstopA roadside town. The Crew races in on an open truck, slams the brakes, and they jump off.
Windmill ValleyWindmills at the village edge, turbines on the ridges. In a storm everything flies.
RailyardThe line runs between the town and the Gárd base. When it honks, jump!
FairgroundA Ferris wheel over the square, food stalls, villas. The wheel turns. Nobody knows who switched it on.
Train BattleTwo trains on two loops, opposite ways: shoot the oncoming one from your open flatcar.
D-Day1944: the Crew hits the beach on landing craft; bunkers and hedgehogs wait.
GizaA desert town at the foot of the pyramids. The sphinx sees everything and says nothing.
ParisBoulevards and palaces round an iron lattice tower.
RomeNarrow lanes round a half-ruined Colosseum. Somebody already shot away the other half.
LondonA foggy brick town, a clock tower on the river bank.
BudapestThe Parliament on the Danube and a bridge. Wreck the embankment!
VeniceCanals and humped bridges. You take a boat; the bomb does not float.
Central ParkTwo rows of towers round a park, a heavy gun on every roof. The gun is yours as long as the roof is.
MeteorsA small town of tall houses. Rocks fall from the sky. All the time.
BolidesSkyscrapers twelve storeys high. Here the meteors come in from the side, like the tax inspector.
Star ShowerChimneys, silos, a crane. And a giant iron ball everybody knows is coming. Just not when.
EarthquakeOld church towers. They stand exactly until you kneel down to plant.
TornadoFarms, silos, a storm cellar. The tornado has a timetable; it just will not share it.
FloodStilt houses on the river bank. You cannot plant in the water. You can swim, though.
Carpet BombingA factory district, a flak tower. If you see red smoke, it is too late to think.
Dive BomberIf you hear screaming from above, it is not the neighbours.
Cluster BombA seaside village where the rain sometimes explodes.
WeightlessA research campus under a giant aerial. Now and then everything floats. You too.
VolcanoA basalt town under a smoking mountain. The mountain says hello sometimes. With glowing rocks.
SandstormAdobe houses, a market, dunes. Then comes the wall. Made of sand.
Robot TownLittle walking robots. Very cute. Do not get close.
MetropolisThe heart of the Core, the biggest and densest city. Needs a strong PC.
